Go Pink: Elizabeth Hurley Steps Out to Stop Breast Cancer at Bloomingdale’s Ready, Set, Pink!
TMG sat down with Estee Lauder Spokeswoman Elizabeth Hurley to get all the scoop on why raising breast cancer awareness is so important to her, how Bloomingdales and the Estee Lauder Companies are involved, her skincare routine and how her gig on Gossip Girl is her dream job!
Elizabeth is so passionate about ending breast cancer and raising awareness. After introducing myself and settling down she proclaimed, Thank you so much for wearing pink! (I mean, how could I not?) and told TMG, Im [involved in BCA because] Im scared for my own family and friends, as well as people I dont even know.
And Elizabeth isnt just a pretty face sitting behind the campaignas the Estee Lauder spokesmodel, shes worked hard to make sure that breast cancer awareness is one of their top priorities. To date, the Estee Lauder Companies brands and employees globally, and also through fundraising initiatives with their retail partners, have raised close to $50 million in contributions to the Breast Cancer Research Foundationan absolutely amazing accomplishment. Evelyn Lauder herself co-founded the Pink Ribbon, that we all recognize today as a global symbolization of hope and awareness, and the Estee Lauder Companies have given away over 115 million pink ribbons since their inception in 1993! Elizabeth, herself, has been instrumental in the global illumination program, which lights up over 200 buildings around the world each year in pink. Last year, the company was initiated into the Guinness Book of World Records for “Most Landmarks Illuminated for a Cause in 24 Hours,” which culminated with the first-ever illumination of the Empire State Building for BCA.
And why Bloomingdales? Why not? Elizabeth told TMG that, Bloomingdales has been a phenomenal partner for the Estee Lauder Companies forever, but even more so the last few years [for Breast Cancer because] theyre incredibly supportive as a retail partner. Every year, they do amazing thingsthe store: its pink! They have this beautiful pink umbrella theyve produced this year, they have the Bloomingdales pink [gift] cards, and the [reusable] Little Pink Bag. Weve lit Bloomingdales as part of our illumination program, many, many times: theyre just a phenomenal partner.
And while we love how supportive and instrumental that both Bloomingdales and the Estee Lauder Companies have been in the BCA campaign, our conversation was just a tad on the serious side, so I wanted to lighten things up and talk beauty!
Im sure youre all wondering how Elizabeth stays glowing and gorgeous! (My sources say shes 46, but she definitely doesnt look it!) She has a very simple, quick routinebut one that works, that starts with most importantlywashing her faceElizabeth uses a cleanser because she likes to feel very clean. She follows up the wash with a repairing serum (while she didnt name names, well guess its probably Estee Lauders Perfectionst CP+) and mentioned that Creme de la Mer makes a serum she could go on about for days! She caps her night routine with Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Extreme OverNight Ultra Firming Creme. For daytime, she uses Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Day Cream with SPF 15 and she stressed, the serumalways the serum first! Once a week or so, Elizabeth uses Clinique Exfoliating Scrub, her favorite, at the moment, as well as body cream to keep her skin hydrated. But her must-have? Elizabeth absolutely adores Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess self-action tanner to get her glow on!
And if youre anything like me, youre dying to know about her saucy new character, Diana, who has set her cougar-sights on UESs Nate Archibald on Gossip Girl! Elizabeth adores the show (note to self: must start using the word adores because it just sounds so fabulous, especially the way she says it with her fabulous accent) and loves that most of her cast is much younger than her! Of the cast she notes, its very stimulating and fun to be with them. Diana, her character, has very questionable morals and she doesnt always behave the way I would behavewhich just makes her that much more fun to playshes down-right naughty at times. Have you seen her? Besides loving her character and cast, its great to be back in New York, and all-in-all, its a dream job.
Have you gone pink this month? As Evelyn Lauder stated, Together we are stronger. Together we can do more. Together we can find a cure. Reporting for TMG from NYC,
Erika
