Tie a Pratt Knot
Looking for a stylish necktie knot that is symmetrical, has a medium size, and is very easy to dimple? Then the Pratt knot is the perfect one for you. It is a knot that is basically a half Windsor knot that is tied in reverse. Below are instructions on How to tie a Pratt knot.
- Lay the tie around your neck with the inside of the tie facing outwards – meaning that the inner stitching should be visible. Also, make sure that the wide end of the tie hangs quite a bit below the slim end of the necktie.
- After crossing the wide end of the tie under the narrow end loop the wide end around the part coming from your neck.
- Pull the first wrapping tight and pull the wide end of the tie towards the center. The stitching should still be visible at the front.
- Now pull the wide end over the narrow end but don’t pull tight. The front of the knot should be showing for the first time.
- Now pull the wide end back towards the loop on the neck and pull through the loop on the front.
- Pull the knot tight and give it some final adjustment. Chances are the knot already has a dimple. If it does not then give the tie a little pinch right before tightening.
